"Echoing Silence" by Miss Frazier

The lonely man sat pondering as he ate his stew
"Why do I always feel so blue?"

It seems as if I am constantly sick with the flu
Silence filled the room except for an echoing coo.

The man jumped up startled from the clue
I may not be alone after all, "who are you?"

Are you close by? What is your hue?
He bent down to look by his shoe.

Please tell me your name, I'll tell you mine it's Nephou.
I once was a hunter of the lovely caribou,

But they are all gone now stuck in some zoo,
I spend my days sitting on the porch of my house in Peru.

There was no response; nothing came into view.
The man knew he was alone again, after all there only remained but a few.

All his friends were killed for being a Jew.
Silence filled the room except for the coo.

There must be someone here or something new
And the owl flew over on that cue.

Oh how happy the man was, "Now it's me and you."
The man spent the rest of his days listening to the owl whoo.
